Well done for getting a shot of the wing venation Fiona. The venation plus the shiny, metallic thorax convince me that this is Homalictus. Bees in this family usually nest in ground burrows. They are generalists when it comes to the flowers they visit for pollen, which means they are active for many months of the year.
